Culture has long been reggae’s preeminent harmony group. Born in the 70's golden age of reggae, the ever viable Culture has garnered continual US and international acclaim for its long series of classic “roots” albums. Culture’s legendary “Two Sevens Clash” (Shanachie) was Reggae Album of the Year in 1977 and is acknowledged by Rolling Stone Magazine (April 11, 2002) as #25 of the 50 all time coolest records (the only reggae album to make the list).

The Dear Hunter is a self-dubbed indie, now full-time project of Casey Crescenzo, formerly of post-hardcore band The Receiving End of Sirens. The band's sound is not unlike that of Casey's former band, but with more alternative and progressive rock tendencies and a wider variety of instrumentation.

“Tossing out massive rhythms, heady guitar grooves, acrobatic hip-hop and total funked-outness, this band has energy that moves at the speed of light. In other words, the effect will hit you instantly. An incredibly pumped up group, The Indefinite Article is one of the best purveyors of the hard-to-do-right genre mix-up of hip-hop and rock. Forget the rest, this is the real deal.” –A&R Select

REHAB
with: HEAVY MOJO, MASTAMINDZ & DJ CHRIS CRISIS presented by WAAF & WBCN
The Atlanta-based quintet breaks new ground and addresses new challenges on its latest album, Graffiti the World. The collection is truly the work of combined contributions from each individual member of the band. "It's five people getting' together and trying to do the music that they want to hear," says front man Danny Alexander. "Everybody contributed. You always have a vision of what you want to do and it never really comes out the way you plan it, but the end result is really good. You're just constantly trying to put out what you feel. The final result of their combined efforts evokes a more positive and inspired feeling to the record.
Formed in the late '90s, pioneering mash-ups of scorching rock and searing rap, Rehab released its debut album, Southern Discomfort in 2000, filled with an array of guest stars including Cee-Lo, Goodie Mob and Cody Chestnutt. The album spun off the top 15 modern rock hit "It Don't Matter" and sold over 140 thousand units. This success enabled the band to kick off a 2 year national tour supporting the Vans Warped Tour and bands like Kottonmouth Kings and Linkin Park. Then, three years ago, in the wake of diverging creative, personal and financial points of view, the group splintered. While facing down his own personal demons, Danny brought together a new version of the band, which has delivered, Graffiti the World. "I did a lot of observing and lyrically sat down for a while and thought about what was going on around me, what I wanted to do and where I wanted to do it," Danny says. This album is a documentary of the station you are in life and trying to get to the next area or stop."
For Rehab, Graffiti the World is a band's bid to cover the world with special sounds, seeking the dark and light within, asking questions and perhaps, sometimes, finding the right answers. And Danny says he knows well he can't do that alone. Along with the help of not only his band members, he collaborated with A-list producers/mixers Billy Hume, whose credits include the Ying Yang Twins, David Banner, and Bonecrusher, and Phil Tan whose worked with the Neptunes, Snoop, and Mariah Carey.

Some people start bands because they feel they have something to say. Others see band formation as a guaranteed path to free drinks and unprotected sex. When Damon Che formed instrumental crunch-rockers Don Caballero 15 years ago in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he had significantly different plans. “The only plan we had at the time was to come up with music we liked,” he says earnestly. “The reason we ended up the way we did was because, in our estimation, [the music] wasn’t ready yet. The opportunities to record kept coming up, and we didn’t want to waste them, even if we didn’t have our craft entirely up to specifications yet.”

with: FRED SCHAFFER
Rossi trained at the Royans School For the Musical Performing Arts. During his early career, he wrote, produced, recorded, and played with his own band, Cleavage. The Toronto-based band, led by Rossi, won the 'Best Canadian Unsigned Band' award at the 2000 NXNE Music Festival in Toronto. On May 29, 2001 Cleavage released a 6-song debut CD, entitled Cleavage.
After acquiring a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing Canada in 2004, Rossi worked and wrote with producer Dave Tyson in Los Angeles and later recorded demos with producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace), leading to the formation of the band Rise Electric.
Rossi and two of his colleagues, Mike Fox and Gavin Brown, were winners in the 2006 People's Voice International Songwriting Competition for their song, "Drive". It gained third place honors in the Top 40/Pop category and landed Seventh Place in the overall competition.
As an accomplished and published songwriter, Lukas Rossi was able to offer lyrics and creative input for the album. One of Rossi's own songs, "Headspin", was included. The band completed a worldwide tour in early 2007 with Rossi as their lead singer.
Moving out on his own in the summer of 2007, Rossi released a recording of 4 acoustic tracks on the Love and Lust EP in June. He toured across the US and Canada during the summer, accompanied by keyboard player, Lou Dawson.Rossi is currently working toward releasing an album, titled Mood Swings, and touring with his new band Stars Down. The band consists of Rossi (vocals, guitar), former Cleavage bandmate Jon Jamieson (drums), and German Briseño (bass, vocals), with occasional appearances by Lou Dawson (keyboards). The album is scheduled to be released sometime in 2008. Rossi has a sample of songs from this band available at his website.

ZAC BROWN BAND
with: KRISTEN PRICE, AMY & THE ELECTRIC
Playing upwards of 200 dates a year, more than 2,500 shows in their career and selling more than 20,000 CDs independently, Zac Brown Band has only begun its ascent. The band's aggressive touring has helped it develop a fanatical grassroots following by winning over believers one person at a time. Driven by awe-inspiring musicianship, skillful songwriting and a dynamic live show that inspires word-of-mouth buzz, Zac Brown Band is already embraced by audiences who sing along with every word.
“It’s kind of crazy how we can go to a place where no one’s heard of us before and by the time we leave people are singing the songs,” bandleader Zac Brown says. “We’ve got a great following.” It’s not an easily pigeonholed crowd either; loyal country music fans, jam lovers and seemingly everyone in between are enjoying the shows. The Zac Brown Band has already landed support slots with artists such as Sugarland, ZZ Top, Travis Tritt, Etta James, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Willie Nelson and BB King
British soul singer, multi-instrumentalist, writer, producer Kirsten Price is extending the British tradition of re-interpreting American soul music in a fresh, innovative way.
The Brooklyn-based singer has fashioned a sound that evocatively connects classic American soul with modern pop. You may have heard some of her work before; even before the release of her debut album “Guts & Garbage, Price’s music had been featured in such heavyweight television shows as The L-Word, CSI and Cashmere Mafia.
She has already toured extensively on her own, and served as the hand-picked opener for Wyclef Jean, and, more recently, the long-missing-in-action Sly Stone.
Price’s influences are prevalent on Guts & Garbage, From the seductive back-stepped groove of “Magic Tree” that kicks off the album, the ‘Nawlins howls that lead to the driving chorus of “All Right” to the sultry ballad “Fall,” Guts & Garbage not only crosses genres, it imbeds a stamp and digs a groove into them.

INDIGENOUS

with: LUKE MULHOLLAND
To paraphrase a popular bumper sticker, Things happen. Just when you think everythings going according to plan, a curve ball comes at you and brushes you off the plate. Lifes funny that way. Just ask Mato Nanji, the guitarist, singer, and songwriter of Indigenous. Mato formed the band with his two brothers and sister back in the late 90s. They released their much-talked about debut, Things We Do, in 1998. While the bands growling electric blues was totally legit and truly exciting, the little family band from the Nakota Tribe of South Dakota never expected the incredible, widespread reception they got from the blues and rock communities. It was really surprising, says Mato, of the siblings success. We never anticipated the band going national so soon. But so it did, and over the course of five years, Indigenous rode a wave of promise and acceptance they never dreamed of.
Then, after two more studio albums and a live set, life interceded again. Indigenous unexpectedly broke up. Theres always some sort of conflict in every band in the world, says Mato. With us, we grew up together in this band, and we were still learning about ourselves and what we were capable of as musicians. After being together for so long, everyone was eager to try new directions. Following the split, each of Matos siblings, with the exception of bassist Pte who played on the new disc, had the opportunity to explore their own musical potential outside the already defined stylistic approach of the band

AERODRONE
with: THE ANIX, KELSEY AND THE CHAOS & NATALIA
Aerodrone started in 2007 when Gary Zon started making Nintendo-like tracks on FruityLoops inspired by such bands as Jimmy Eat World, The Faint, and The Killers, with the intention of having the tracks eventually played with real instruments. Recruiting local musicians to fulfill this goal, like Ashton Kutcher-lookalike Kevin Patrick, the newly formed band played shows to frenzied fans in Oregon and recorded the SPIN EP in Canada. After the band's big move to California, it gained the mysterious keyboardist only known as the TZA and recorded its latest EP in Hollywood at The Hidden Studio.

FEAR NUTTIN' BAND
with: HELLO MAHALO
Some bands have coined themselves as revolutionary, but Fear Nuttin Band is evolutionary. With their musical roots fusing the intensity of metal, the rhythm of Jamaican dance hall and the social consciousness of hip hop, this band is defining a genre.
The Fear Nuttin Band sound is as diverse as the cultures the band members represent. The hot West Indian sun incubated the talents of frontmen Roosta (vocals), Prowla (vocals) and Jay Chung (guitar), while instrumentalists Matt Penza (drums), Chris Regan (guitar), Brian Daigle (bass) represent New England’s finest. The union of these six individuals was in the stars: with Chris, Jay, Penza and Brian lending their musical talents to heavy bands all over the Pioneer Valley, the four always found themselves in and out of bands together. It was the same day that Matt, Chris and Brian found themselves without a frontman that Roosta and Prowla called up and asked them to jam. These final Fear Nuttin Band members have been together since.

MATT PRYOR (GET UP KIDS, NEW AMSTERDAMS)
with: KEVIN DEVINE, MIKE FIORE
Matt Pryor, the revered frontman for Get-Up Kids and New Amsterdams, will be releasing his debut solo album, entitled Confidence Man, (Vagrant) July 29th. The 15-track disc was truly a solo effort - Pryor wrote, played, sang, recorded and produced the album from his home studio in Lawrence, Kansas.
Confidence Man is an intimate collection of folk-tinged acoustic songs that strip Pryor’s skillful songwriting down to its bare, emotive minimum. The storylines are less autobiographical and more observant, with a sophisticated twist (especially on the title track and “Loralai”).
“I’ve always wanted to do something that was quieter and acoustic and could be played by one person,” says Pryor. “I just want to have my little folk moment.”

Despite Sweeney Todd being from the UK, the band is primarily based out of Boston, Massachusetts. The duo personally financed the release of 2 EPs before signing to Taang! Records. Their eponymous debut LP was released on April 8th, 2008. Various friends and musicians contributed to the record but the band's most current lineup is Barton and Todd, along with Mike McMillen (lead guitar), Sean Laforce (bass), and Kevin Garvin (drums), all previously from the Boston area Metalcore band On Broken Wings.

H.R. OF BAD BRAINS
Paul “HR” Hudson is the legendary front-man of Bad Brains. Noted as the pioneers of hardcore punk, Bad Brains was formed in Washington DC in 1978. The band quickly developed a very fast and intense punk rock sound, which was both musically complex and developmentally ahead of its time. Since then, HR has become one of the most notorious, iconic, and memorable artists in the history of music. Throughout their career, HR and Bad Brains incorporated sounds of punk, reggae, heavy metal, and funk to the mix, making them known worldwide for not only their music, but also their exciting and high-energy shows where HR would dominate the crowd. The Village Voice described HR on stage at a Bad Brains show “like James Brown gone berserk, which a hyperkinetic repertoire of spins, dives, back-flips, splits, and skanks.”
Bad Brains put out over fifteen albums throughout their career together, landing them as #99 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, and making HR #38 in Swindle Magazine’s 100 Most Notable Icon’s of our Generation. HR’s solo career began in 1983 with the formation of the Human Rights, aka the HR Band, featuring Dave Byers, Kenny Dread, Jose Gonzales, and the Bad Brain’s drummer and HR’s brother, Earl Hudson. The band released several groundbreaking albums, including their sensational album, “It’s About Luv/Keep Out of Reach.” Bad Brains and the HR Band, using HR as a vehicle, were able to influence generations of music and people. Many of today’s popular artists such as Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, Sublime, Lil Jon , P.O.D., System of a Down, Def Tones, and many more artists owe their present careers to the style invented by Bad Brains.
Throughout his career, HR and his music has been covered by Revolver Magazine, Mojo, Kerrang, The Fly UK, Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, The Associative Press, The Boston Herald, Spin Magazine, and The Observer UK, to name a few. His peers in the music industry also rave about his bands and his artistry. Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day said, “The thing about a lot of punk is the feeling that bands have is apathy and hopelessness. Whereas Bad Brains lyrical content had a lot of hope in it.” Tony Kanal of No Doubt has called Bad Brains “the greatest hardcore punk band” while Glenn Danzig of The Misfits said, “We didn’t know there was another band that played as fast as us, until the Bad Brains came to town.” HR and Bad Brains released their last album “Build a Nation,” produced by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, in 2007 to rave reviews.
HR is now ready to come back into the spotlight as a solo artist, with his new full length album “Hey Wella” to be released digitally, September 30, 2008 and store release T.B.A.. Though reggae is the main focus on HR’s solo material, he showcases his musical genius, impressive singing, and dynamic performances by exploring the worlds of hardcore and hip-hop beats as well.

ENDOZO
with: MY DEAR DISCO & MH!
In Fall of 2006, beginning as the songwriting duo of Mark Endozo and Emma Phillips-Strain, a group of musicians from varied locales across the country formed a seven-piece pop/rock ensemble based out of Boston, MA. With each member coming from a distinctly different musical background, they managed to blend their corresponding genres intricately and seamlessly into an exciting new take on indie pop. In early 2007, Endozo’s stage debut at Boston University, alongside the Boston-based band Violet 9, was met with much critical acclaim. On April 6, 2008, Endozo’s song, "They Don’t Know" was featured on Garageband.com as the Indie Rock Track of the Day. Also on Garageband.com, Endozo’s music has received other awards such as Best Pop Rock Bass for the weeks of February 54th and March 24th, as well as Best Female Vocals in the Indie Rock category for the weeks of March 10th, and March 24th.
Live, Endozo has a playful, fun-loving ambience which can easily be seen through their musical chemistry and stage presence, as well as the way they react to their audiences. If one were to describe the music of Endozo, one could say that they are melodically comparable to John Mayer, vocally comparable to Joss Stone and Leslie Feist, and instrumentally similar to Incubus and Coldplay. More recently, the blending of male and female vocals have drawn comparison to indie pop icons Stars and The New Pornographers. With a five song demo under their belts and a full-length album in the works, Endozo continues to captivate audiences with their unique instrumentation and delicious pop arrangements. It’s nothing new to hear them spontaneously break into a completely different genre of music, but no matter what style, Endozo will be known for it’s powerful and refreshing pop/rock sound.

In the beginning of march the town is empty as shit and made for a crazy strange, amazing atmosphere- our friend Joe Dell'Aquila at exeter recording and mixing helped us track and was assisted by our friend josh. this will be the first of many musical experiments i intent conduct over the next few years both alone and with my friends.

THE SUPERSUCKERS
with: EDDIE SPAGHETTI & JORDAN SHAPIRO, DEATH AND TAXES
We formed the band in 1988 and we were initially a five piece called The Black Supersuckers (a name found in some quality “adult literature” we had laying around in our impeccably clean band house), with me on bass, Dan “Thunder” Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitars, Dancing Eagle on drums and a lead singer by the name of Eric Martin. After firmly proving ourselves to be the best band in town we decided it was time to get out of Tucson and try our luck somewhere else. So we tossed a coin with heads as New Orleans and tails as Seattle. Tails it was and in May of ‘89 we packed up and went north.
We had no idea that Seattle was about to become “Rock Mecca USA” we just wanted to go somewhere where we could wear our leather jackets a little more often. It was exciting and encouraging to see all of the great bands there, doing their own thing and making some kick-ass, aggressive rock-n-roll that we could relate to, so we started recording immediately. After some classic “creative differences” with our lead singer, we decided to try it as a four piece with yours truly as the singer (I was the only one who knew all the words) and The Supersuckers, as you may or may not know them today, were born.
“If you don’t like the Supersuckers, you don’t like Rock-N-Roll.” -Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead

with: OAK LONETREE presented by WERS

When it comes to thought provoking, street-bred raw lyricism, the Wu-Tang Clan's fountain of wisdom, GZA takes his job very seriously. The way he crafts his double-edged rhyme flow mirrors the skill and precise technique of one who works with fine ceramics. GZA's metaphoric and multi-layered lyrics are often touted by critics as his rap name implies; genius.

Before singer Patrick Nissley and drummer Jared Piccone started the dance-rock early-Killers-influenced outfit Innerpartysystem, both were in the Reading, PA-based emo band Thirteen Over Eight, which Piccone (who was then on drums) joined in 2000, a few years after their inception. Though the group enjoyed a nice local response and comparisons to bands like the Used and Thursday, things didn't really take off until the two started the electronic-inspired the Takeover, which later morphed into Innerpartysystem. With Kris Barman on keys and Jesse Cronan on guitars and keys, the group signed to Stolen Transmission (headed by Sarah Lewitinn, credited for helping bands like My Chemical Romance and the Killers reach the mainstream) in May 2007, releasing their The Download EP a few months later.

ROGER CLYNE & THE PEACEMAKERS
with: WELCOME TO FLORIDA
Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers (RCPM) are proof that the crazy, reckless, restless, swaggering soul of American rock is still burning a hole in the night sky...guitars blaze, quake and quiver, drums slip, thud and thunder with killer melodies and hooks and the occasional reggae or mariachi rhythm laced through the middle to keep it all honest and interesting (Tom Jurek, Paste Magazine). With the conception of its first ever "VivaCast", the white-hot foursome has successfully pioneered a revolutionary new way to create music and put their fans directly in the recording engineer's seat with a voyeur view. The stunning result is captured on the new CD/DVD, Turbo Ocho, which chronicles the amazing creative process of producing 8 new songs in 8 days. Each song was written, arranged and recorded in a day and upon completion, instantly uploaded to the internet, along with the accompanying day's video log, for thousands of fans to hear and view. Fronted by Roger Clyne with drummer P.H. Naffah, lead guitarist Steve Larson and bassist Nick Scropos, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers are the only independent band to debut in the Top 10 on Billboard's Internet Sales chart for six consecutive albums, including two 1 entries. Clyne & Naffah enjoyed an accomplished stint with The Refreshments, the late-90s rock band whose cult-classic album Fizzy Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy produced the hit singles "Banditos" and "Down Together." Clyne wrote and performed with The Refreshments the theme song for the hit cartoon King of Hill. Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers stepped up to the plate in 2007 when the Arizona Diamondbacks, the band's hometown World Series Champion Major League Baseball team, called on the band to write them a rockin' theme song. The "Dbacks Swing" is a homerun with Diamondbacks fans everywhere.

COWBOY MOUTH
For more than 15 years, the members of the New Orleans-based band Cowboy Mouth have embraced, embodied, preached and shouted the joys of their hometown, sharing a slice of Mardi Gras heaven with fans around the world.
Their 11th recording, Voodoo Shoppe (Eleven Thirty Records), is their most critically acclaimed album to date. The Pittsburgh Tribune stated, Long known for live shows, the band has just released "Voodoo Shoppe," an album which comes close to matching the group's high-voltage performances. They go on to say, Every song seems to have one irresistible hook to draw in listeners. The Boston Phoenix called it, Inspiring stuff, and still a hell of a party record.

Lions Lions comes out of the Boston music scene that almost all of its members helped to form. Brandon Davis (formerly of Vanna and Therefore I Am), Jon Kay (formerly of The Jonah Veil), Danny Poulin (formerly of A Loss For Words), Van Truong, and Phil Bjorkman have all come together to form a sound that includes influences from all genres of music. Pulling references from all of their own individually culturally diverse backgrounds, they make a sound that is completely a vein of its own.
